While the country is under the yoke of a military junta and corrupt priests preach the apocalypse, a lawless, eccentric family –(🎠) a kind of Bonnie & Clyde with kids – trek through the Brazilian interior. Their first aim is to deliver a consignment of weapons to a group of militant nuns who have withdrawn to the jungle, living off the income from their cannabis plantation.
In Nazaré da Mata, a small town near Recife in the Brazilian state of Pernambuco, young people don’t hold rap battles, but samba battles. The Afro-Brazilian culture of the maracatu, a dance and music spectacle related to carnival with roots in the era of slavery, is in their blood. A local evangelical pastor, however, regards this cultural heritage as inspired by the devil: he thinks the people should renounce the maracatu in order to let God in.

Hoping to cash in on the final stages of the found-footage phenomenon, a shady LA producer hires a small crew of cult-icon, has-been and never-were filmmakers to 'whip up' a supernatural, first-person perspective ghost story on a pitifully low budget. Along with a handful of amateur actors, the group heads into the woods and sets about rigging up 'scares' and planning the story with varying degrees of enthusiasm. After filming the first gag, the actors return to base camp to find the crew has been brutally murdered. MOST of the crew, anyway... Now the actors are lost far from home and being hunted stalked by a vicious killer with an eye for cinema.
