It consists of 11 connected audiovisual chapters connected by its' narrative. It describes the project's own evolution seen from the eyes of the artist Jonna Lee in relation to their followers. As Lee describes it: " it's a reflection of us having one foot in the physical world and the head in water". 'Terror of Frankenstein' is an exercise in extreme meta-fictional tragicomedy. Presented as the commentary track of a rushed reissue of a forgotten (but 100% genuine) Frankenstein film's DVD (because of unspecified 'recent events'), this project transforms the film into an entirely new, very human horror story. Featuring Clu Gulager as the director of the 1977 original who is happily exploiting the unmentioned tragedy linked to the film, the recording session unravels a mystery as he clashes with the screenwriter (Zack Brown) and, ultimately, its star (Leon Vitali from Stanley Kubrick's Eyes Wide Shut and Barry Lyndon, playing himself.) One of my main tenets in this film was "do what you feel like" - sometimes I'd go in a different direction, throw out what was done previously, all based on my emotional response to my most current iteration. When I needed something more, I searched and created until I found/made what I needed. A young couple in New York locks themselves into a kind of childlike romantic fantasy, with the city as their playground. When reality begins slipping inside their world, the relationship begins to sour, until it collapses under its own weight. For the remainder of the film, the young man attempts to recreate this type of codependent fantasy existence with whomever he can, with increasingly perverse & disturbing results. In a search for love & happiness, he finds only sickness & destruction.
