Ranger Alan Hepditch (Fred Ewanuick) is an Ichabod Crane-like misfit who is the laughing stock of the Newfoundland rangers. He is sent away to Swyers' Harbour, ostensibly to investigate mysterious sheep attacks. In fact his smarmy Sargeant (Colin Mochrie) simply wants him out of the way. However, just before he arrives a local girl's body is found washed up on the beach and Hepditch is the only lawman in town.

In the Nineteenth Century, in Japan, the American journalist Christopher is traveling through the country searching Komomo, the missing love of his life that he had abandoned years ago promising to come back to her later. He arrives in a shadowy island inhabited by whores and caftans, where he has an encounter with a deformed prostitute that tells that his beloved Komomo had passed away. He drinks sake with her and later he asks the woman to tell the story of her life. The prostitute discloses a dark and cruel story about her life and the sad fate of Komomo.
Two strange sisters, Grace and Violet, bound together by more than blood, live in a large mansion, alone, yet surrounded by haunting images of their childhood. They bring home a man, Luke, picked up in a bar. He is unaware, but his purpose is to make one of them pregnant. Lust and love, jealousy and fear throw their plans awry. Lurking out of view is a mysterious presence, manipulating them like marionettes. Only death can untangle the puppets' strings.

Seit Tobias und Ellen Markus vor etwas über einem Jahr besucht haben, stimmt etwas nicht mehr in ihrer Beziehung. Tobias hat sich nie getraut zu fragen, aber er hat den Verdacht, damals könnte etwas zwischen Ellen und Markus gelaufen sein. Nun will er die Wahrheit herausfinden. Mit einem Kamerateam begleitet er seinen Bruder und dessen HANSEN BAND auf Konzerttournee – Ellen bittet er mitzukommen.
