She chooses Deok-su. The spurned suitor, Yeong-gam, refuses food and becomes very sickly. Deok-su has a stroke and his elderly wife must work to support him and pay for his medication while Yeong-gam accuses him of ruining Bok-rae's life. A Korean man living in Japan attempts to overcome discrimination and enter the Japanese National Baseball League. For some strange reason I have now sat through practically all of these 70's cheerleader movies. Only The Swinging Cheerleaders (directed by Jack Hill) is a drive-in classic, but Satan's Cheerleaders comes close. The Cheerleaders (1972)is truly awful but it does deliver on the softcore sleaze. The Revenge of the Cheerleaders features the disturbing images of a very pregnant Rainbeaux Smith and a not-so-pregnant David Hasselhoff cavorting around in the nude. The Pom-Pom Girls is surprisingly innocent and realistic and might have appealed more to actual 70's teenagers than horny middle-aged men. The Cheerleader's Wild Weekend is forgettable (at least, I've forgotten it). Then there's this movie, which is probably the most obscure of the cycle. The plot resembles that of the original The Cheerleaders where our nubile heroines attempt to "wear out" the opposing team before the big game, except that it's set on the beach (where's Jaws when you need him?) It might be the worst of 70's cheerleader exploitation flicks, but at least it's better than Bring It On. Raja was adopted by a criminal don (Ashok Kumar) at a very young age. After the death of the don, Raja inherits the property, and refrains from crime. However, the wealth and the power associated with it, make him arrogant. He desires Radha, the daughter of his servant, Ramu, and Raja asks his permission to marry her, Ramu accepts, but Radha refuses as she loves Kishan. Raja finds out that Radha is meeting with Kishan on the sly, and complains to Ramu, who forbids her from meeting with Kishan. Then Raja finds out a secret from Kishan's past, meets with him, hires him, and even arranges a lavish marriage for Kishan with Radha, resulting in Kishan being indebted to Raja. Raja entrusts him with more important and responsible work, which must get Kishan to travel a lot. Kishan eventually finds out the real reason for Raja's kindness. Was it that Raja wants Kishan out of the way so he can be near Radha, or is there another reason? Going through the filmmography of Jess Franco is never an easy thing because not only do you have to go through more than 200 movies but you've also got to go through countless alternate versions. Sometimes films can have four or five alternate versions with newly shot scenes, alternate footage or footage thrown in from another director. In 1974 Franco made a film called EXORCISM, which was a very dark mix of sex, religion and violence. It was also released in a softer version under the title DEMONIAC and another version with XXX footage called SEXORCISMS. Then, in 1979, Franco took footage from EXORCISM and added a new plot around them and the end result is this film, THE SADIST OF NOTRE DAME. The Samrat of Suryadesh, Suryadev, travels to Pushpapuri in order to wed Rajkumari Nandini, but instead ends up getting married to her maid, Meenakshi, much to the chagrin of Nandini. Shortly thereafter a son, Vikramdev, is born to Meenakshi, and Nandini plots with a sorcerer, Mahendra, who turns Suryadev and Meenakshi into a pearl necklace, and a beggar respectively, while he takes on the guise of Suryadev himself, declares that Vikramdev and Meenakshi are dead, weds Nandini, and subsequently announces that they are parents of a daughter, Pallavi, who is actually his biological daughter from a previous marriage. Years later, Vikramdev surfaces, he was raised by elephants in the jungles, rescues Pallavi, who teaches him to read, speak, and write, both fall in love and get married. Then Vikramdev sets out to search for his biological parents, finds his mother, takes back his kingdom by exposing Mahendra and Nandini, while Nandini is killed, Mahendra is imprisoned. Then he and Pallavi set out to find a way to bring back Suryadev to life - not realizing that both their lives will be shattered when Vikramdev will age instantly and Pallavi will turn into stone.
