An eleven-year-old girl awakens to the turbulence below the tranquil surface of her family and their Maryland maritime community. When two boys steal the family cassette player Parisa has snuck out of her house, they also get her most prized possession - a tape with her dead father's voice on it. Determined to get it back, the young girl enlists a friend to help track the boys down. Meanwhile, the cassette player itself goes on a rather incredible journey.
