After the death of her husband, Lilia's life revolves solely around her teenage daughter, Salma. Whilst looking for Salma late one night, Lilia stumbles upon a belly dance cabaret and though initially reserved and taken aback by the culture of the place, Lilia gets consistently drawn back to it. She befriends one of the belly dancers and is encouraged into dancing for the audience. Lilia also starts a romance with one of the cabaret's musicians, who unbeknown to both of them, is also romancing Salma.

Dean Campbell is a high-powered attorney who returns home from work to find his family being held hostage by terrorists.
Cacá, a VJ who works for São Paulo MTV, comes to Rio de Janeiro to make a report about a new band, whose members are poor and live in a slum called Morro do Alemão. She spends the night with PQD, one of the musicians. The next day, Cacá is attacked by two street kids who wanted some money, and thinks PQD is somehow involved. With the police chasing him, PQD decides to go to São Paulo to see Cacá(⛴) and prove his innocence. But he meets Cacá's brother, Nando, who tries to convince him to take part in a scam.
Al Caruso, John Gresco and Jack Amoruso are three gangsters working for the Genovese family. However, their efforts are more than headache-inducing, and when they are given one last chance: To protect the boss's aunt, she is accidentally killed and the three men are sentenced to death. They come up with a plan to sell the boss to the police and the FBI. However, Al suffers from short-term memory loss and has to be told the story by John and Jack.
