Like in Minnelli's Van Gogh biography (Lust for life, 1957), movie director Planchon makes painting with the camera, especially in the firt hour. The times and the soul of the period (end of the XIXe century) is well respected. Beautiful movie! A smart young female lawyer Lorna Johnston is suddenly contacted by some old university mates. Lorna finds it a relief to go out and enjoy some nightlife but it soon becomes apparent that the so called mates are actually playing a sadistic game with her and one that could end up in murder.
