Starting off as a bit of a hippy drippy affair with a young uninhibited couple using their bodies and their guile to get a free holiday, this turns into something much darker. There is real suspense including a splendid Hitchcockian scene in an aviary, lots of nudity and some pretty nasty moments. Irene Papas ( 'Zorba the Greek' and 'Don't Torture a Duckling') lends considerable gravitas with her impressive performance as the mature woman with something of a problem to sort out. Ray Lovelock is appealing as the handsome young man who likes fast cars and faster women but it is the lovely 16 year old Ornella Muti who is always catching the eye. Apparently the almost too perfect nude shots are of a body double but we still get plenty of up the shorts shots as she bends obligingly forward. When a series of package bombs show up on the doorsteps of prominent politicians and businessmen in the summer of 1919, U.S. Bureau of Investigation Agent William Flynn (Strathairn) is assigned the task of finding those responsible. He becomes immersed in an investigation that uncovers an anarchist plot to destroy democracy. Inspired by true events of the 20s the film sets the stage for a timely thriller with resoundingly similar parallels to the contemporary war on terrorism and the role government plays to defeat it. Tinti) an American cop transferred to Italy, becomes Maurice's right-hand man. Maurice is a famous "camorra " boss. He is planning an assault to a post office near Naples. During the robbery, another boss called "the panther" shots over Maurice's band wounding Lo Bianco. Fortunately Lo Bianco does not die and he starts to investigating about Maurice's past. He finds out that the boss is protected by the Italian Secret Service because he has some important documents regarding drug traffics where Italian minister are involved. Lo Bianco finds the documents and he is ready to give it to a magistrate but he is killed before leaving Italy. This is the worst Italian crime film that I have seen. Acting is poor and actors too. The careful viewer will notice that sometimes the actors look at the camera during their dialogues. Even if the film has been shot in Italian the dubbing is simply shoddy, with false Neapolitan accent. The action is slow and boring.
