After the Spanish circus' sharp-shooter recruits a pretty Hungarian refugee as an assistant in his act, it does not take long for romance to blossom and eventually, to be sealed with an engagement. While the circus performer is happily looking forward to marital bliss, his intended bride inexplicably falls out of love with him and in love with his friend. He sees this as a betrayal of trust on both their parts and plans a violent revenge. When three bumbling conmen win a dating agency in a rigged card game they think their luck has finally changed. When they take charge of the business though, they discover that the con is on them and that the agency is in debt, the furnishings are all on credit and the staff haven't been paid! Salvation appears in the form of a millionairess client who is searching for a suitable husband and one of the conmen pretneds to also be a millionaire. But who is conning who? This is the story of a female corsair, Mary Read, who takes over a ship of pirates and wreaks havoc on the high seas. Later, she squares off against an old nemesis. This is a very colorful, adventurous film, which looks as if it were inspired by the films of Raoul Walsh (in fact, the director, Umberto Lenzi, is known to be a big Raoul Walsh fan).
