平(🐨)(píng )山(🔤)周吉{宇津井(🐪)健饰演}和登(🥉)美{八千草熏(🌮)饰演}是一对(🥀)上了年纪的(😣)(de )夫妇(fù )，俩口(🏒)(kǒu )子(🦔)的(de )生(shē(😚)ng )活略(🤣)(luè )感(gǎn )孤独(📔)(dú )寂寞无聊，于是决定往东京一行，探望已经成家立室的儿女(nǚ )。他(👗)们兴致(zhì )勃(🤚)勃地(dì )抵达(🧜)(dá )，但(🏰)却(què )受(🧛)到颇(🎃)(pō )为冷淡的(Ⓜ)招(zhāo )待。儿子(🚠)、媳妇、女(🐋)儿、女婿都(🚮)因生活的重(🧟)压而(ér )相当(🚔)忙碌(⤴)，无暇(xiá(📃) )招(zhā(📏)o )呼两(liǎng )老(lǎ(🤫)o )，因(yīn )此建议(📅)(yì )他们去热(🙇)海渡假，表面(🐵)上是让他们(🛍)有个松弛和(🏠)游览(🐿)的机会(🕦)，实际(👀)(jì )上却是(shì(🤼) )希望(wàng )摆(bǎi )脱他(tā )们(men )。只(zhī )有年轻守寡(guǎ )的媳妇纪子，对他们比较(🤸)关怀和体贴(🍦)。 就在两老(lǎ(🌽)o )返回(🌡)老家不(📍)(bú )久(📒)，儿(ér )女们(men )便(💢)(biàn )接到(dào )母(🤯)亲病(bìng )重的(Ⓜ) 电报。他们遂(🛐)回乡探访病(🧤)势危殆的母(🏅)亲，后(🐒)者已经(📁)无法(😲)(fǎ )辨认他们(✔)。葬礼(lǐ )之(zhī(🐌) )后，儿(ér )女们(👡)(men )又匆匆(cōng )忙(😝)忙地赶着回(💖)东京，只有纪(🤥)子多(🏞)留数天(🎍)，陪伴(🍜)暮年丧偶的(🚗)老(lǎo )人家(jiā )。纪子(zǐ )承认(rèn )守(shǒu )寡对(duì )她(tā )而言(yán )是相当困难(ná(🚺)n )的事，老人便(💞)劝她改嫁。然(✖)后，平(🔴)山老先(🌤)生孤(🍶)独(dú )地守在(🍸)屋里(lǐ )，想着(🕚)(zhe )他将(jiāng )要(yà(🍤)o )渡过(guò )的孤(🏊)苦(kǔ )的晚年(♍)。 1942年(nián )，日军侵(✝)华的(⚽)战火烧(🏔)到了(💿)冀中平原。俯(🎤)首称臣只(zhī(🕘) )有死路一条(🛵)(tiáo )，奋(fèn )起(qǐ(🔇) )反抗(kàng )才(cá(🦍)i )是最(zuì )终的(🥜)出(chū(🤗) )路，冀中(💠)的人(💃)民都动员起(✒)来共抗日军了，高家庄更是调集了(le )大量(liàng )民兵。为了(le )对(duì )抗日(rì )军(♑)(jun1 )的飞(fēi )机大(🛷)炮，当(dāng )地人(⛪)民利(🍡)用地貌(🌓)开凿(🗡)出了一条条(😺)错综复杂的(👷)地道(dào )。 There certainly are elements in this film that could have been left out, and the film would have been better off for it; why the cheap monster/demon makeup?(The increasing blisters are great though..) Why having that obnoxious fatso-brother appear in the film at all? And let's face it, the special effects in places were not exactly state of the art either, neither were the editing. So why give it an 8 then? Well my rating couldn't have been any lower, and this is based solely on the fact that the film positively reeks of unique and creepy atmosphere, atmosphere so dark that I put it up there with the Kane-scenes in "Poltergeist 2", and the atmosphere in "Exorcist 3". There truly are some psychotic and memorable scenes. Two that stands out are when the mother of the family tries to " connect the dots" on Cyrus's back, the other is when she sits quietly in the living-room sowing, and then starts to jam the needle and thread into her hands! Excellent! Not to mention the infested fruit and vegetables! All in all,there is in this film a disturbed and unsettling tension that you seldom get to witness in other horror flicks of the same decade, and certainly not in contemporary and crappy Hollywood blockbusters, that's for sure. If you are just curious, rent! Meanwhile, Jiro Katagiri is up to no good with his gangster friends and ends up making off with all their ill-gotten gains, much to their disapproval. The two misfits end up meeting after a car crash and soon end up on the road together in (another) stolen car. It’s not long before the police take an interest in the crimes, and of course the gangsters are hot on Jiri’s heels; meaning the two must scarper across Japan by any means necessary.
