The film is based on the biography of the legendary Russian ballerina Anna Pavlova.
Driven to attempt suicide because of her unhappy marriage, Shin-ae ultimately opts to leave her husband. She retreats to a mountain temple where she gradually falls in love with Yo-han. However Shin-ae's ex-husband would rather see her dead than with another man.

When Mette and her father are left alone over the Christmas holidays to paint the new nursery the father ends up alone most of the time. The 16-year-old Mette is always off with her friends at the disco or skating, and the father does not mind until he discovers that young Jønne has taken some semi-nude photos of Mette and clearly is intending to go further in their relationship. Suddenly the father starts hanging out with Mette and her friends as they practice winter sports together - and there is hardly anything stranger, or more embarrassing, as far as Mette is concerned. It is clear that father and daughter are heading toward a change in their relationship as both have to adjust to her "growing up."

Sandor Korvin (Schell), the conductor of the Budapest Opera House tutors his wife Elena (Seymour in a duel role) as Marguerite in FAUST. She drowns herself after a bad review rigged by the sinister Baron Hunyadi (Kemp), whose affections she spurned. When confronting Kraus, the critic (Stone), Korvin gets into a fight and a fire is started. Korvin kills the critic, only to have his face burned beyond recognition with acid that falls from a shelf above. He is saved from the infeno by a rat catcher, who takes him to a lair underneath the opera. Five years later, he becomes The Phantom of the Opera, a masked figure who causes havoc among the cast. Korvin spots Maria Gianelli (Seymour), a chorus girl who bears a remarkable resemblence to his dead wife. He tutors her by day, while Maria's love interest, however, is with Hartnell (York), who has taken over as director of FAUST. Adam John Walsh (1974-1981) was an American boy who was abducted from a Sears department store at the Hollywood Mall in Hollywood, Florida, on July 27, 1981. His severed head was found two weeks later in a drainage canal alongside Florida's Turnpike in rural St. Lucie County, Florida. His father, John Walsh, became an advocate for victims of violent crimes and was the host of the television program America's Most Wanted. Convicted serial killer Ottis Toole confessed to Adam's murder, but was never convicted for this specific crime due to loss of evidence and a recanted confession. Toole died in prison of liver failure on September 15, 1996. On December 16, 2008, police announced that the Walsh case was closed
