After accidentally shipping a crate of nuclear fusion triggers to Malawi, soldiers Floyd and Stu go AWOL. Back in his old home town, Floyd is mistaken as a war hero and swept up in the local mayoral election. A comically absurd chain of events forces Floyd to decide whether to keep running or face his past and go home again.

Seventeen year old Elizabeth and her younger sister Sam are thrust into circumstances more terrifying than life with their abusive, drunken mother when they are forced to move into their deceased Grandfather's house. Frightened beyond belief, they are forced to learn horrible things about their family history. Never mind the ghosts in the house, there is something far worse that takes an interest in them ... a cannibalistic clown named Crepitus.
Bill lives comfortably in his close-knit family, Boule does well at school, his mother provides piano lessons from home and his father is a famous cartoonist. Everything is turned upside down when the harsh and bad-tempered editor of his comic strips, rejects the work of Boule’s father. She perceives a great lack of inspiration in it, due to the fact that his family lives in a world of happiness that has a very negative impact on his creativity. Boule’s father comes back home with the firm intention of shaking his family off happiness by doing a lot of silly things.
