A young man and an older woman wonder if tennis is the only place where love means nothing in this romantic drama. Twenty-something Chris (Dean Paul Martin) is a rising star on the professional tennis circuit. Nicole (Ali MacGraw) is an artist in her early 40s who's involved with a wealthy man. Chris falls for Nicole, but while she's certainly attracted to him, she's not sure if she should give up her life of luxury in order to follow Chris in his uncertain future.

"El Andarín", a mythical guerrilla of the fifties, goes down to the open-air dance. A little girl looks at him with her big eyes. Years later, that girl has become a beautiful woman, Amparo, in love with the member of the resistance. But "El Andarín" is already someone condemned to be a loser. Hided deep in the forest, he has become a harassed beast. Juan, brother of Amparo, returns after several years of exile to convince him to leave the mountain and to get safely away from there. But Juan ignores the relations that his sister has maintained with "El Andarín".
This could almost be a documentary, it's depiction of the gay male lifestyle is so realistic. A brilliant film unlike any others in the genre. No fantasies here, just honesty (though obviously made before AIDS was an all-too common fear).
