Madhu was engaged to somebody. She ran away to be with her boyfriend, only to discover that he was only after her money and was really fooling around with someone else. She went home to discover her uncle, her only family, had committed suicide. She ran away. While trying to run, she came across her widowed childhood friend, who is on her way to meet her in-laws for the first time. They decided to take the train together to Naini Tal. Along the way, the train derails and Madhu's friend is killed. Before dying, she makes Madhu promise to "take her place" at her in-laws. Thus Madhu becomes a new person. But, her old ex-boyfriend knows and she is actually connected to the people of Naini Tal in more ways than she knows... Two couples live through attraction, distraction, sympathy, friendship, quarrel, jealousy, fidelity, and the Devil supervises it all by delivering solemn warnings in choice moments. This tale of a young Jewish man trying to find his way in Paris in the 60's (will he follow his father into the fur business, or go into films?) is told with such brio, and the actors are encouraged to make the best of their gifts. Gregoire Aslan, for instance, is very funny here (and in Mazel Tov also), much more than in the routine comedies he cranked out for Hollywood. Berri plays himself with his usual hang-dog charm. When two teenagers engage in sex and violence, they are targeted as an example to illustrate the moral decay of youth. Eva Christian is seen is various stages of nudity as she plays the game of love with Luis Fernando, Ianelli Fregolente, and Geraldo Del Ray. The teens are seen as part of a sexual revolution sweeping the city in this exploitation feature with a surprise ending.
