One Touch of Venus (1948) is a film directed by William A. Seiter, starring Robert Walker and Ava Gardner, released by Universal Studios, and based on the Broadway musical of the same name written by Kurt Weill. However, the film omits most of Weill's music and thus got poor reviews. Not knowing her illness is terminal, concert pianist Karen Duncan checks into a Switzerland sanatorium under the care of Dr. Tony Stanton, whose stern manner Karen does not like. One day she and another patient, Celestine Miller, enjoy a day away from the clinic and a night on the town, despite their doctor's advice. The late, great impresario Florenz Ziegfeld Jr. looks down from Heaven and ordains a new revue in his grand old style. A virtuous Spanish princess becomes Queen of Portugal, then troubled by social struggles and court intrigue. She negotiates a truce between the king's and his son's factions; and performs a miracle, by changing bread into roses, to appease the king's ire, has he had forbidden her to distribute bread to the poor peasants. After her husband's death, she entered a convent, resting her crown at the tomb of San Tiago, in Compostela. A married couple who have a song-and-dance act in vaudeville are in trouble. Their struggling act is going nowhere, they're almost broke and they have to do something to get them back on top or they'll really be in trouble. They decide to put their young son in the act in hopes of attracting some new attention. The boy turns out to be a major talent, audiences love him and the act is on its way to the top. That's when an organization whose purpose is to stop children from performing on stage shows up, and they're dead set on breaking up the act. Two years after her husband's death, Christine Faber (Lynn Bari) thinks she hears her late husband (Donald Curtis) calling out of the surf on the beach one night.
