A widow (Michele Morgan) in a small town begins to realize that her late husband was hated by nearly everybody. She begins to receive blackmail letters that threaten to further humiliate her if she does not pay up. She enlists the help of Franz (Robert Hossein), a man who was once fired by her late husband, to track down the source of the letters. She becomes unhinged and eventually tries to kill the man who is helping her in this early example of a Giallo. A newlywed sheriff tries to stop a shambling monster that has emerged from a spaceship to eat the citizens of an American town. "The Hour of Crimson Rose" is a sweet, old-fashioned, time-travel story. A young girl of 1960's Warsaw, is travel through time, by the power of magic clock. She's send to late XIX-century Warsaw, and has to verify her point of view about history and human relationship. Adaptation of a book "for a nice girls", by director Halina Bielinska, came up with funny, nice-to-watch picture, with "old-movies" look and feeling. Starring Elzbieta Czyzewska, former bright polish movie star, and Lucyna Winnicka (starred in a few Jerzy Kawalerowicz movies). Note that "The Hour of Crimson Rose" is a black-and-white movie.
