In this B&W, documentary-style, futurist, experimental film, Christian fundamentalists plot to take over the US, while a queer underground organizes to fight them. The loose story revolves around Carlos and Ben, high school students in NYC and in love - in spite of their bigoted classmates attempt to break them apart. Together these two teens join with a revolutionary group to fight the powers that be. Piecing together altered stock footage with a small film of these two boys in love, the filmmaker manages to put together an interesting short film. Highlights are Carlos's (Giordano) lovely rear -- on display a few times and the diary writing by novelist K.M. Bajo works illegally by day, and by night helps Alfonso at the bar. He lives at Alfonso's place with a small rooster from Yugoslavia. The rooster's crowing at dawn awakens homesickness in Alfonso's blind moher, and Bajo's longing for his three children, taken care of by his mother, far away, somewhere on the Serbian-Montenegrian border, not realizing that they are already on their way for America. During that trip, Bajo's younger son loses his life in mythical river, Rio Grande. His older son fits new life conditions perfectly. Impractical ones, old mothers, middle-aged sons and lost love will vanish in unreal world of American illusions... The inner-city struggle for respect bears out in the lives of everyone who deals with life in the urban streets. Jessica, a rookie cop, is all that stands between her ex-con husband [who happens to be a recently paroled graffiti artist] and the violence of the underworld. Maxine, a beautiful artist, faces powerful questions of sexuality. And Jordan, a tortured young boxer, fights for his identity in the streets. Their moving stories and powerful action are rivetingly linked by the sultry voice of sexy radio D.J. Rude.
