Après avoir fait fortune en Extrê(🐋)me-Orient, l'armateur Forest a ouvert une banque à(☕) Marseille. Il est le tuteur de l'orpheline Madeleine Wills, dont il convoite le coeur. Lors d'une promenade en auto, celle-ci renverse malencontreusement un Chinois nommé Tchang Keou. Madeleine le fait soigner et lui trouve une place de domestique au service de Paul Valmont, dont elle est amoureuse. Tchang Keou est en réalité à la recherche de l'homme qui, armé d'une épingle rouge, a assassiné(😘) son père parce qu'il avait été témoin du meurtre du père de Madeleine par Forest. He gets involved with a cheap dancehall girl, and when her protector is accidentally killed, they go on the lam together, getting jobs as farm labourers. But some fellow workers get wise to them.
