A group of people are killed one by one while participating at a million dollar treasure hunt in a mysterious Italian castle. Originally produced in 1981-1982, and intended as a prime-time TV special for ABC. The project was shelved after negative reaction by H-B and Taft executives to the film's graphic imagery, particularly relating to the 1960s and the Vietnam War. The film was retooled in the mid-80s, with a new sequence featuring classic Hanna-Barbera cartoon clips set to "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go." During the rule of the Taliban in Afghanistan about 3 million Afghans, who were mostly illegal immigrants, entered Iran; causing numerous problems for the Iranian society to accept them. This film is the story of a 17 year old rural girl by the name of Mahi, who comes from a war-stricken family in the southern Iran. Mahi falls in love with an Afghan student named Hairan, who has come to their village to work. But Mahi's family being strictly against her marriage to an Afghan, forces Mahi to choose one between her family and an Afghan lad. Using Nelson Rodrigues' play as a springboard, director Braz Chediak has made a movie about the multiple incestuous relationships of one family, and their misguided personal demons get worse as time wears on. The message remains essentially erotic, regardless of possible symbolic allusions to the society to which these people belong.
