From a novel by noted author Setoguchi Torao, this modern-day movie stars the great Misora Hibari. With a strong supporting cast that includes Usami Jun and the mega- star Takakura Ken, it is a tale of youth, family and romance. Not to mention the wonderful music and songs that Hibari brings to all of her outstanding work. When Kenji the sailor finds out that Harumi who works at a hotel bar is his fallen comrade Yajima's daughter, it leads to a romance between the two. But can their love survive the hardships of a sailor's life and the power of a large shipping company? Nigel Dennis publishes a scandal magazine. But for each story he writes, he first approaches the person whose scandalous behavior is described (or rather implied, to avoid any libel suit) and says he will suppress the story in return for money. Several of his victims first decide individually to kill him instead of paying, but fail in amusing ways. A newly married young woman is possessed by the evil spirt of her husband's deceased first wife. The possession turns her into a scheming killer who will stop at nothing to get what she wants. Miss Paisley adopts a stray cat. She names him Stanley. Stanley sneaks into the room of the violent tempered Mr. Rinditch. He tells Miss Paisley to keep the cat out of his room, but she fails. The cat sneaks into his apartment and Rinditch kills it. When Miss Paisley finds out, she grabs a knife to kill Rinditch, but she has second thoughts. She sits down and falls asleep. In the morning she wakes up wearing different clothes. The knife is also missing. She discovers that Rinditch has been stabbed to death and that a janitor has been charged with the crime. She is convinced she is the murderer but the police don't believe her. The janitor is later convicted and executed. Miss Paisley then discovers Stanley's collar. She remembers the murder. She did kill Rinditch and threw her bloodstained clothes and knife into a river.
