Sivan (Mohanlal) is a well-respected don in the area of Madurai. After his driver was killed in an altercation with a few enemies, including a rowdy cop, he takes the driver's son Shakthi (Vijay) as his own. Shakthi grows up with a vengeful hatred towards the Police uniform and any other Khaki clothing. Even towards his eventual lover (Kajal), initially hating, but then seeing her good side, But it is when his Father desires him to wear the uniform, that turn the tables on the illegal work of Sivan. He now finds himself struck down in the prime of his life and confined to an iron lung. He has a full-time nurse and his pretty wife is attentive, but he is concerned at her friendship with Arnold Barrett. The president of the TIPS cassette company, Khurana (Kader Khan), is impressed with his musical abilities and promotes him to a high position. As he goes back to repay his debts in the village he receives tragic news of the death of his wife Pooja (Karisma Kapoor) has died in a flood. He then marries Khurana's daughter Divya (Tabu). When Khurana has a heart attack, he finds his "presumed dead" wife Pooja in the hospital. Newly married, Stella asks for the retrieval of her husband's body - but the task proves impossible when the corpse accidentally falls into a deep crevasse, where no human eyes or hands can reach him. Mark (James Donald), having feelings for Stella, stays by her side, a close friend and nothing more. Forty years later, still trying to get over the news of the accident, Stella learns that the glacier has moved. Hiring a crew to help prospect her husband out of the ice, they find the body preserved and untouched. Stella views the body of her husband one last time.
