She begins to receive blackmail letters that threaten to further humiliate her if she does not pay up. She enlists the help of Franz (Robert Hossein), a man who was once fired by her late husband, to track down the source of the letters. She becomes unhinged and eventually tries to kill the man who is helping her in this early example of a Giallo. Broke Edith murders and assumes the identity of her recently widowed, well-to-do twin sister Margaret, who had married Edith's former flame 20 years before. Can she fool the servants and the authorities and keep her new-found wealth? Adventure set in Sudan in the 1880s where the British are fighting the Mahdi forces attempting to end the slave trade. With Khartoum under siege, two British soldiers help a governess and her charge to safety. On their adventurous journey down the river Nile, they encounter wild animals, native tribes and even romance.
