Her daughters, all of them college students, think that their mother runs a dressmaker's shop in Busan. Their success is Madam's only wish, but her eldest daughter Seong-hui disappoints her by insisting on marrying a truck driver and aspiring novelist (Kim Jin-kyu). Younger daughter Dong-hui (Kim Hye-jeong) dates a rich man's son (Lee Sang-sa) to Madam's delight, but the young man abandons Dong-hui without a second thought when he tires of her. In despair, Dong-hui comes to Busan in search of her mother, but Madam has already been taken into custody on smuggling charges. After she gets out of prison, Madam is shocked to learn that Dong-hui is working as a prostitute in a bar across from her nightclub, but she continues to hide her identity. Youngest daughter Yang-hui (Tae Hyun-sil), who is a violinist, visits Busan to give a performance before getting married and heading to Germany to study music. She discovers Madam's true profession and, enraged, repudiates her own mother. Dong-hui repents her behavior and comes looking for Madam with Seong-hui, but Madam has already committed suicide. Two children on vacation in Egypt with their archaeologist parents expose the villainy of Arab workmen and help their father find the treasure he seeks. In India, a group of religious fanatics, the Sikkim rebels, capture an English lieutenant and the daughter of the Viceroy. The Sikkim belong to the deadly sect of the White Elephant, and are very cunning and dangerous. Lieutenant Dick Ramsey (played by Sean Flynn), captain of the lancers, engineers a scheme to save the two captives. After having been degraded and locked up in order to trick the rebels, he escapes, and makes his way into the jungle to find the mysterious temple. Along the way he meets Sandok and Prince Dahara, who both join Ramsey in unmasking the sect and saving the two captives. This film was made right after Lenzi's similar jungle film, "Sandokan, I Tigre della Malesia," so it contains many similar locales and actors. Lenzi returned to the jungle the following year to make three more films! Despite the original title, "Sandokan, I maciste della Giungla," this is not a Sandokan film. Nevertheless, this is a really fantastic adventure, with lots of steamy jungle footage, exotic locales, and enough action to make it well worth the watch. "The Hour of Crimson Rose" is a sweet, old-fashioned, time-travel story. A young girl of 1960's Warsaw, is travel through time, by the power of magic clock. She's send to late XIX-century Warsaw, and has to verify her point of view about history and human relationship. Adaptation of a book "for a nice girls", by director Halina Bielinska, came up with funny, nice-to-watch picture, with "old-movies" look and feeling. Starring Elzbieta Czyzewska, former bright polish movie star, and Lucyna Winnicka (starred in a few Jerzy Kawalerowicz movies). Note that "The Hour of Crimson Rose" is a black-and-white movie.
