In the fictional segment, based on a novel by Alexandra Kollontai (the first Soviet ambassador to Sweden and an early advocate of women's rights), the young woman Vassilissa (Sascha Hammer) learns how to stand up to her womanizing husband (Mark Eins). Director Rosa von Praunheim plays this story out in the tone of an early 20th century "morality" play. The second focus of the film is about Helga Goetze, a mother of seven children who left her brood when she was 50 years old (and her youngest was already 16) to join the Otto Muehl Commune in Vienna and live a liberated life of sexual freedom, filled with involvement in the arts, literature, and politics. Helga moved to the Kreuzberg district of West Berlin, where the on-camera interview was conducted. Director Praunheim opted for interspersing fictional and documentary segments so as to better chronicle the move toward independence and sexual "liberation" on the part of the two main female protagonists. In the weeks leading up to his departure for a tour in Africa, successful light-comedy actor Garry Essendine finds himself embroiled in one farcical situation after another. A smitten dé(🌯)butante, Daphne Stillington, has wheedled her way into his guest bedroom. Meanwhile, Garry's long-suffering secretary, Monica, has arranged a meeting with crazed-playwright Roland Maule. Furthermore, Liz, Garry's estranged wife, demands his aid in her attempts to arrange the personal lives of Garry's manager Morris, his producer Henry, and Henry's alluring wife, Joanna. Written by L. When the new Spanish Governor begins to grind the peasants under his heel, wealthy landowner Don Diego Vega (George Hamilton) follows in his late father's footsteps and becomes Zorro, the masked man in black with a sword who rights wrongs and becomes a folk hero to the people of Mexico. When Vega sprains his ankle and cannot figure out how to continue his campaign against the corrupt Captain Esteban, luck stays with Vega when his long-lost twin brother Ramon (also George Hamilton in a dual role), who was sent off by their father to the British Royal Navy to make a "man" of him, whom is also flamboyantly gay, and now known as Lt. Bunny Wigglesworth, appears for a visit. 'Bunny' agrees to temporarily take his brother's place as Zorro, but wishes to make some changes. Bunny becomes 'the Gay Blade' in which his new suits are lemon, plum, and scarlet colored, and Bunny insists on using a whip. Bunny also becomes the liaison between Don Vega and the liberal American activist/feminist Charlotte (Lauren Hutton) a long-time critic of Captain Esteban's policies, and who has a crush on her masked hero.
