At first glance, our two stars of Born Winner, Pericles (Joe Dallesandro) and Sandro (Massimo Ranieri) do not appear to be Born Winners at all. Sandro, played by the charmingly handsome Ranieri, is unceremoniously dismissed from his job after a party he is catering for is robbed at gunpoint. Shortly after, he fails in his attempts to find a new job. Fate, or what you will, allows a piece of paper with Sandro's address to fall into Pericles' hands. Pericles is the man who committed the robbery at Sandro's last catering job, causing Sandro's dismissal. Soon, our Pericles, who is the gorgeous Joe Dallesandro incarnate, is living with the newly directionless Sandro; Pericles soon takes Sandro through the fast, thrilling, dangerous, and fleeting, swiftly fleeting, curves of life. As Pericles tries to help Sandro earn a living as a petty thief, Sandro tries to help Pericles learn to love life again. Joe Dallesandro is remarkable as an ex-championship motorcyclist whose career prematurely ended after a nasty accident. The fates of Pericles and Sandro leave an indelible mark upon the viewers; as the other poster commented, the curves are muddled, but they are muddled with good cause. Charlotte, a parole officer, shows up: she's young and seems taken in by Victor. He discovers she lives above the Senlus Museum, where her parents are the curators. With two pals he decides to steal a priceless El Greco triptych and then ransom it back to the cultural ministry. What will Charlotte do when she realizes he's used her to make a fortune? Hunky secret agent man Fabio Testi (as Renzo) beds women, hunts uranium, and pals around Venice with handsome hetero partner Assaf Dayan (as Dan). Sexy Janet Agren (as Helga) provides the two with a amorous assignment, which Testi accepts. After bedding down with the quickly undressed damsel, Testi thinks she can offer no leads, but Mr. Dayan suspects otherwise. The best part of "The Uranium Conspiracy" is the lovely location scenery. The film's excitement grows much more exciting in its final act, with the dynamic duo of Testi and Dayan making an action-packed escape from some bad dudes. Most enjoyable outing from Mr Lenzi and whilst giallo-esquire is really quite a mixed bag. Starting off as a bit of a hippy drippy affair with a young uninhibited couple using their bodies and their guile to get a free holiday, this turns into something much darker. There is real suspense including a splendid Hitchcockian scene in an aviary, lots of nudity and some pretty nasty moments. Irene Papas ( 'Zorba the Greek' and 'Don't Torture a Duckling') lends considerable gravitas with her impressive performance as the mature woman with something of a problem to sort out. Ray Lovelock is appealing as the handsome young man who likes fast cars and faster women but it is the lovely 16 year old Ornella Muti who is always catching the eye. Apparently the almost too perfect nude shots are of a body double but we still get plenty of up the shorts shots as she bends obligingly forward. All three are a great asset and with a decent script and Lenzi's constant inventiveness, this is a fine piece of exploitation cinema. This movie is about Derick and Derwin - two boys who feel nothing but contempt for society. They separate themselves from others by wearing long black trenchcoats and listening to crappy industrial music. They also have nazi memorabilia and pipebombs lying around everywhere in their rooms. One day Derwin is ruthlessly beaten up by jocks. This event fuels the hatred Derwin and Derick had to a violent climax as the boys decide to take revenge by killing everyone in their high school and taking their own lives afterwards.
