Giulio Borsi (Marcello Mastroianni), a reactionary pharmaceuticals executive, has just set off for a weekend with his young mistress (Carole André) when the two are taken hostage at a gas station by three anarchists. Hunted by the police and transformed into media stars by the press, the trio escapes with their hostages to an isolated villa. For a brief moment, it seems as if class contradictions can be overcome, but then there is a showdown between the authorities and the far-left outlaws. Dino Risi’s darkest political satire was loosely based on a true story and anticipated the armed struggles between the Brigate Rosse and state power. It is also a clairvoyant account of the increasingly sensationalist and bloodthirsty media. The girls, however, are actually in the employ of sleazy Mike, The Singing Pimp, who wants the boys waylaid so he can continu polluting the bar with his prostitution racket and rotten music. But when Jen and Su end up falling for the two dumb lugs, Mike adds “strangler” to his already unsavory resume’…. She faces various difficulties while she takes care of orphans. However she endures all the hardships with belief and home for bringing up orphans. Two troublemakers Jae and Kwang become college students thanks to her efforts. As Kwang loses his eyesight during students activities against the government in 1960, Seon-Hee gives him one of her eyes. When Seon-Hee goes to prison instead of her adopted daughter Suk who incidentally committed a crime, the orphans who grew up as good civilians appeal to the court for her innocence. In the end Seon-Hee comes back to them and dies. This movie is really good, It's got the (bud spencer/piedone) vibe, but rather than being totally slapstick like his other movies it has the 1970's police/italian/drama movie vibe, with little twist and turns that they police movies HAD, and in contrast with his other movies it has a dramatic background, Obviously there are more hardcore police movies, but this is a good begin for anyone, if anyone wants to watch them all, it's half lightheart half hardcore, needless to say if you no nothing about police B-movies and you watch "il Boss" right away, you might ned a shrink to get you out of the mode.
