Script to this film is based on a short novel written by Jerzy Andrzejewski - the same author who wrote "Ashes and Diamonds". Wajda want to do "Holy Week" for years. First version of script was made by Andrzej Żuł(👒)awski (polish director) and Jerzy Andrzejewski in 1968, but topic of Jews in Poland in this time was highly unwanted (infulence of government). Wajda sold rights to script to German producers. After years he can back to his project and complete it in year 1995. Des is an eleven year old kid who has had a really bad deal in life. Crime and mischief are the main staples of his life and he and his friends cruise around the city and do things like vandalize, steal, light fires, and mug people. He thinks that he is untouchable because he cannot be charged until he is twelve.
