This story is a family drama about JJ, a lonely, yet talented, adolescent who is grief stricken by the loss of his grandfather, recent relocation to the USA and being overlooked by a family that are too absorbed in their own dramas to notice him. JJ is coerced by his one friend to expose his amazing guitar skills on a social network site, meanwhile JJ's family is spiraling towards total breakdown with one sister on the brink of suicide, the other in denial and his parents under pressure and on the verge of breaking up. When JJ's posts go viral and he becomes an overnight sensation, he finds himself thrust into the limelight which finally enables him to be noticed, meanwhile, his family has reached crisis point and private family problems are being exposed. JJ must decide how he can embrace and share his talent without pulling his family any further apart - this he does by taking a personal and creative risk, as he boldly steps into manhood and the worldwide music arena. Shot in the south of France on a shoestring budget, Ur: The End of Civilization in 90 Tableaux tells the story of six characters in search of a zombie apocalypse. A searing insight into the decadent lifestyles of the British upper middle class, Ur follows Will, Dennis, Laura and Rosie, who have come to visit Alex and Edward in Bergerac, France. Edward loves Rosie. Alex seduces Rosie. Alex also seduces Laura. Will is having a nervous breakdown. Dennis is trying to put his life back together. Will then gets bitten when out running - and turns into a zombie. Do the others kill him or keep him? The title, Ur, means primitive and the film is shot in the primitive style of cinema's inventors, the Lumiere brothers. The story of Ellen and her friends, all in their late thirties/early forties, and their more or less self-inflicted complications of love and longing for romantic redemption. The story is a summary of three years of love-related highs and lows for the group of friends told through eight chapters, each of them set at a party: a New Year's Eve, a house warming, a Midsummer's Eve, a wedding, a surprise party, a naming ceremony, an anniversary and a round birthday.
