The National Crime Squad (NCS) was formed in 1998 from the amalgamation of the six former regional crime squads and tackles serious and organised crime across England and Wales. Conceived as a single drama in two parts, NCS Manhunt followed an NCS team led by DI John Borne as they investigated a criminal who was targeting a police officer. A full series of three two-part dramas followed a year later.
