This film made in 1936 shows Margaret Day Lockwood's continuing her development into a British leading lady actress.Made during the latter part of her film apprenticeship, she is teamed up with the great Maurice Chevalier (Paragot) in a musical playing an honest waif (Blanquette), who is looking for work in cabaret. Franz Roberti is a famous orchestra conductor who has a number of girlfriends. While talking with his old music teacher, Professor Thalma, he meets Constance, an aspiring music composer. They see each other, fall in love and marry. They honeymoon all over Europe and are happy back home until Constance finds him with a society divorcee and leaves him. Ham Hamilton knows that gold-digger Marcia Trent is only after Robert Densmore for his money, so he tells Marcia that Robert is broke and she calls off the announced wedding. Disappointed and ready to die, Robert goes to Budapest, with Ham as his companion, where he decides he can best accomplish his death wish by making love to Marietta, whose husband, Spadissimo is the finest swordsman in all of Europe and will surely kill him in a duel. The duel is on and Robert is very quickly on the losing end when Ham, knowing that Spadissimo has a mother complex, poses as Robert's mother and Spadissimo breaks down in tears, while Robert, Marietta and Ham make a quick exit stage left. In anticipation of Airport 34 years later, womanizing pilot Jack Gordon (Fred MacMurray) is called upon to safely guide his plane through a blinding blizzard. His task is complicated by a trio of crooks who are escaping from the law after pulling a jewel heist, and by a shady nobleman (Fred Keating) who offers Gordon a large amount of money if he will land the plane before San Francisco. In the climax, one of the passengers hijacks the plane, only to be foiled by -- of all people -- an obnoxious brat of a youngster (Bennie Bartlett). Oh yes, and before this eventful flight has reached its conclusion, self-styled Lothario Jack has decided to settle down with one girl, wealthy Felice Rollins (Joan Bennett), who, during one of the many crises, is briefly pressed into service as Jack's copilot. Thirteen Hours by Air was produced with the technical assistance of United Airlines. Lili is a skating instructor at a grand hotel in the Alps. An international conference is booked at the hotel. The conference is led by Prince Rudolph, whose plan is really to keep a pair of feuding countries at odds with each other. Feining illness, the Prince moves into a small inn so he can enjoy some skiing in private -- and delay the conference. One morning he meets Lili on the slopes and they hit it off; but she has no idea her "Rudy" is the Prince. That evening Lili is seen leaving the Prince's car, having been given a ride home by her beau, a cousin of the Prince's chauffeur. Tongues wag and Lili is thought to be romantically involved with the Prince. This gets her lots of attention and a starring role in her own ice skating revue.
