Mohan (Amitabh Bachchan) and Asha (Mala Sinha) are in love with each other, and eventually marry each other in a private temple. Circumstances separate the couple, and Mohan marries Seema (Aruna Irani) and has two children. Mohan is employed with the local municipality. After 10 years, there is a new Collector coming to town, and that person is Asha, who will take over this position, and will be Mohan's boss.
