Martin feels like a marked man, a sentiment enhanced by a higher level of anxiety resulting from the reading of Poe's book and the bewildering events described in the compelling personal journal. Engulfed by the presence of Poe's charismatic verses and the strong presence of classical music, ''For the Love of Poe'' (produced, written and directed by Nils Oliveto) is a modern day poetic-suspense which extracts the deepest fear of a man suffocating from paranoia ... Between the hours of ten and twelve a piece of news stops a family in its tracks, while around them life goes on as before. Just another summer's day. But on this particular day a piece of news, delivered by two officers in a police car, changes the life of a family forever. As the journey processes, the vehicle becomes more and more crowded with family members, picked up from home, work, the hairdressers. As they sit in the backseat, alone with their thoughts, what they thought they knew about life, about relationships, has been violently altered. Still the largest masonry dome on earth after more than six centuries, it is taller than the Statue of Liberty and weighs as much as an average cruise ship. Historians and engineers have long debated how its secretive architect, Filippo Brunelleschi, managed to keep the dome perfectly aligned and symmetrical as the sides rose and converged toward the center, 40 stories above the cathedral floor. His laborers toiled without safety nets, applying novel, untried methods. Over 4 million bricks might collapse at any moment—and we still don’t understand how Brunelleschi prevented it. To test the latest theories, a team of U.S. master bricklayers will help build a unique experimental model Duomo using period techniques.
