On vacation, Tom Lawrence--The Falcon--and his Brooklyn-born sidekick 'Goldie' Locke meet cute with a little girl named Annie whose nurse has just been murdered. Accompanying Annie home, The Falcon is arrested for kidnapping, but bailed out of jail by a mysterious woman (Helm). A labyrinthine plot then unfurls involving silk smuggling, a steamship called the S.S. Citadel and an ex-bootlegger named Duke Monette.

This movie shows the idealized career of the singer Al Jolson. A little Jewish boy comes up against the will of his father to be in showbiz, becomes a star, falls in love with a dancer not of his religion and marries her. But in the end he chooses success on the stage.
An elderly couple move into an old, supposedly haunted abandoned house. A young girl comes to live with the pair as a companion for the wife. However, soon the girl is possessed by the spirit of another girl, a wealthy woman who had once lived in the house but who had been murdered there.

Arriving at Medicine Bow, eastern schoolteacher Molly Woods meets two cowboys, irresponsible Steve and the "Virginian," who gets off on the wrong foot with her. To add to his troubles, the Virginian finds that his old pal Steve is mixed up with black-hatted Trampas and his rustlers...then finds himself at the head of a posse after said rustlers; and Molly hates the violent side of frontier life.
