Lou, the junkie prostitute is quite puzzled, even surprised about this aspect of their relationship. He is fairly unshockable, not at all condemning of the prostitute and her lifestyle. The widow Elena Palumbo is the mother of two sons, Francesco and Paolo, who live with their mother on a farm they run. However, their land serves, for construction speculation, to Roberto De Michelis, willing to do anything to become its owner.
