Adrien Williams enters the "in crowd" when she is hired by a posh East Coast country club and befriended by Brittany Foster, the charismatic leader of a clique of wealthy college students who are home for the summer. The film is based on the novel Quer pasticciaccio brutto de via Merulana, by Carlo Emilio Gadda. The film was restored and re-released in 1999 both in Italy and the USA.
