What happens to a dream when the dreamer is gone? PAINT IT BLACK is the story of the aftermath of Michael's death, and Josie's struggle to hold onto the true world he shared with her. Just released ex- convict Guido watches his girlfriend get killed on the way home from prison. He thinks the killing is connected with the events that led to him going to jail five years back. Guido starts to investigate...In many ways a typical late DiLeo- crime film: unimaginative lightning, boring sets, unimpressive action sequences. Yet I think just because of the grittiness of the script, this one easily rises above the other DiLeo- turkeys I've seen. Decent acting in the form of especially Barbara Bouchet and Guido's main adversary Martin Balsam, who stand out positively. Most importantly, the plot really thickens towards the end climaxing in a truly memorable final scene between Guido and Martin Balsam's Rizzo.

Set in the early days of World War II, General Claire Chennault works to assemble a volunteer fighter squadron to help the Chinese fight the Japanese.
Tony Lo Bianco (G. Tinti) an American cop transferred to Italy, becomes Maurice's right-hand man. Maurice is a famous "camorra " boss. He is planning an assault to a post office near Naples. During the robbery, another boss called "the panther" shots over Maurice's band wounding Lo Bianco. Fortunately Lo Bianco does not die and he starts to investigating about Maurice's past. He finds out that the boss is protected by the Italian Secret Service because he has some important documents regarding drug traffics where Italian minister are involved. Lo Bianco finds the documents and he is ready to give it to a magistrate but he is killed before leaving Italy. This is the worst Italian crime film that I have seen. Acting is poor and actors too. The careful viewer will notice that sometimes the actors look at the camera during their dialogues. Even if the film has been shot in Italian the dubbing is simply shoddy, with false Neapolitan accent. The action is slow and boring.
