收到一张(🏗)由青海(hǎ(🌻)i )寄来的明信(🛹)(xìn )片，弟弟(💰)决(jué )定到中(🧣)国走(zǒu )一(🏿)趟(🤕)，一心(xīn )想(🍾)见哥哥。一(🔧)个(☝)挂着小口琴(qín )的藏(🕙)族(🗽)女子(zǐ )，可能是哥(gē(❓) )哥(🗻)的情人；骑电单车(🗼)的(🍮)北京男子，又好像与(😒)哥(🤝)哥感(gǎn )情深厚，一(yī )路(🆔)上竟与曾(céng )接触哥哥(🆗)的(de )人碰上。好(hǎo )像要完(🍜)成什么似(sì )的，弟弟决(❎)(jué )定继续找(👖)寻(xún )与延(😖)续(✈)哥哥(gē )的(🔦)感觉。
Alex is a television station intern and ambitious to further his career when he scoops an interview with the shock-video artists Jon & Marta Henley. It seems like the break he's been hoping for until the couple entices him into their lurid world of violence, deception, and sexual game-playing. Alex's pursuit of success turns into a desperate attempt to clear his name and save the life of his fiancee by exposing the Henley's controversial methods.
After one book that ended up in the remainder bins, novelist Byron Tiller's inability to pay the bills strains relations with his wife. Desperate for any kind of income, he meets Luther Fox, an Englishman who runs an exclusive escort service called Elysian Fields, and is offered a job.
Tuba works daily at a grueling textile factory in Iran, returning home every night to deal with the rest of her problematic family, which includes: a pregnant daughter whose husband beats her regularly; a teenage son, who's been getting into trouble due to his burgeoning career in radical politics; and an older son who goes to great lengths--such as attempting to sell the family's meager house--in order to get an engineering job in Japan as a means of getting out of Iran. Unfortunately the 'friend' to whom he gave his money as an advance for his trip took off with the money, and the son finds himself without money, without a career, and with a debt towards a lot of people. To solve his problems he wants to deliver a package of heroin, but loses it, and has to flee. The film ends dramatically with a direct call from the mother to the camera crew asking what life has given them after all the sacrifices they have done, mirroring the opening scene.
