Mohan (Amitabh Bachchan) and Asha (Mala Sinha) are in love with each other, and eventually marry each other in a private temple. After 10 years, there is a new Collector coming to town, and that person is Asha, who will take over this position, and will be Mohan's boss. After her arrival, rumours start to circulate about Mohan and Asha. He and his wife were finally allowed to enter the divided nation in 1960.
