An elderly woman discovers an old painting in her house. It turns out to be a previously unknown painting by Hogson, a famous 18th century painter. It's sold at an auction for 400 000 pounds to a collector. The same night, the woman who found it is found murdered in her home. As more and more bodies turn up, Barnaby uncovers an art forging business among Midsomer's art society.

In the story, we follow Marie Deschamps (Mirianne Brulé(💨)), a young 20-year-old Quebecker girl who quits college. She plans to go on the Canadian West coast to learn English. Obviously, her father (Germain Houde) is against this trip and wants her to finish school instead. Moreover, he tells Marie that if she dares to travel across Canada, she'll no longer have the right to come back to her parents' house. Marie's journey will bring her up to Whistler, British Columbia, where she will meet other young people who are a little lost just like her. However, somewhere out in the West, these people and this adventure will change her life forever.
At sunrise five people meet on a highrise rooftop in order to leap to their deaths. Five completely different mind sets. None of them knows about the other as to why they want to terminate their lives so abruptly. They don't even know each other's names. The only bond that ties them together in a tragic and bizarre way is knowing that at any minute they are about to jump. But a chain reaction of absurd situations is unfolding forcing them to spend a whole day waiting up on the roof until sundown. They are stranded on an island, their own parallel universe surrounded by and cut off from the hustle of the city. Initial dislike and rejection of one another eventually turns into an unforeseen alliance. All five of them experience a day they won't ever forget.
