Script to this film is based on a short novel written by Jerzy Andrzejewski - the same author who wrote "Ashes and Diamonds". Wajda want to do "Holy Week" for years. First version of script was made by Andrzej Żuł(🎗)awski (polish director) and Jerzy Andrzejewski in 1968, but topic of Jews in Poland in this time was highly unwanted (infulence of government). Wajda sold rights to script to German producers. After years he can back to his project and complete it in year 1995.
A husband in love and a wife satisfied by this love; yet they won't be happy, at least in the conventional sense of the word. For the husband is so in love he becomes a little paranoid and the wife, a slightly neurotic Hitchcock heroine, is so charmed that this shocks her. Therefore, in a distinctly matrimonial manner, they embark upon a dual process of destruction that can be nothing but mercilessly comical.

This film is based on a true story about a British teenager who allegedly poisoned family, friends, and co-workers. Graham is highly intelligent, but completely amoral. He becomes interested in science, especially chemistry, and begins to read avidly. Something of a social misfit, he is fascinated by morbid subjects such as poisons and murder. His family environment is intolerable to him and, in particular, his stepmother torments him. He decides to poison those who annoy him, first with antimony and later with thallium. He smugly thinks himself cleverer than all those around him, but nevertheless he is caught and sentenced to 'rehabilitation' at a psychiatric institution. Once there, he undertakes to deceive the new eminent psychiatrist sent there to 'cure' him, thereby securing his release.
