The film is divided into two 40-minute scenes, each filmed in a single, unbroken take, the first set on a Staten Island terrace, the second at a Hamptons beach house. The story follows the erratic love life of thirty-something Sasha (indie treasure Karpovsky), his lingering feelings for his ex Mia (Neshat), his rivalry with his best friend Kyle (Gary Wilmes), and a wedding that (going against the rom-com grain) leaves much unresolved. The fluid camerawork is in tune with the slippery emotional terrain and is matched by the virtuoso focus-shifting sound design. Alan Cumming and Adam Rapp head a solid supporting cast. Anything can happen and will happen in this romantic musical where four teenagers risk their feelings and dreams in the space of a single, extraordinary night. Daniel, Lina, Stefan and Therese are sixteen years old. They are the best of friends and are on their way out for the night. It is a night like any other and yet a night like no other before. When the sun rises, their lives will be forever changed. Daniel is in love with Lina, but Lina is hopelessly in love with herself and rock star Niklas Ravn. Therese is willing to offer Stefan her virginity, but Stefan would rather come out of the closet - to get closer to Daniel. But Daniel is much more interested in Therese. A small group of friends are gathered at Katinka's summer house to celebrate her birthday. The guests are all in their thirties, upper class, art world, liberal humanitarian bohemians. They sit on the floor smoking amongst books, antiques and modern art. The party sets off on a high note, when suddenly during dinner, two new guests arrive. Linda, a blonde game show hostess, is unexpectedly brought to the party by Katinka's brother. Linda is greeted warmly at first, her brusque and liberated manners are entertaining and fresh. But during the course of the evening Linda stretches the groups invisible social rules of hospitality. Contempt starts to grow, thus unfolding the groups hidden prejudices. A story about love, violence and a bizarre shelter for men.
