Trilogy of Terror (original title: Trilogia de Terror) is a 1968 Brazilian horror film by Brazilian film director/actor José Mojica Marins. Marins is also known by his alter ego Zé(⛸) do Caixao (in English, Coffin Joe). It's little wonder that every woman in the film swoons and sighs at the sight of him and all men, even the baddies, are awestruck at his appearance. Not that they show him constant respecto, if that were the case we wouldn't have much of a picture. Hildegard Knef gives us one of the best interpretations for the Empress of Russia. But Elisabeth Bergner with Douglas Fairbanks Jr. in "Catherine the Great (1935)" and Louise Dresser with Rudolph Valentino (!) as The Black Eagle in "The Eagle (1925)" are good as well. Sergio Fantoni is not a super-star as Fairbanks or Valentino but he is a good cast as Orloff. The ball-room scenes, the costumes and the uniforms are good (Walter Patriarca was the costume-designer). Umberto Lenzi, the director, and the script-writer Malatesta deliver us a fine historical movie with passion and adventure. Freebie and Bean, two San Francisco police detectives, have one goal in life: to bring down Red Meyers, a local hijacking boss. After many fruitless months they finally collect an important piece of evidence.
