Highway is a story of a simple, routine Mumbai- Pune journey that our characters begin in separate vehicles. They all come from different walks of life, carrying their own baggage of what they are. Each one is in a hurry to reach their respective destinations. The journey does not quite end as they expect it to. It provokes some questions that were hidden deep within. Highway is a film of that escape which all of us yearn for. It is an attempt to see our own reflections in today's time. A group of four amateur adventurers who specialize in exploring remote and forsaken places pay a visit to Shookum Hills, a town in the remote Appalachian Mountains which was abandoned decades ago due to a mysterious coal mine fire. Iben and Thomas are on a romantic boat holiday. On the surface everything looks perfectly idyllic, except something is weighing on Iben. She can’(🥧)t sleep and her mind often wanders to the past. On yet another sleepless night, she hears cries for help in the distance. Iben and Thomas follow the voice and rescue a refugee woman. She survived while others perished. Thomas wants to call the police, but the woman begs him not to. What really happened and how far will Thomas and Iben go in order to help a complete stranger? This movie is about confronting the present as much as it is about confronting the past. While a world war rages, Philippe, a draft-dodger from Quebec, takes refuge in the American West, surviving by competing in Charlie Chaplin impersonation contests. As Philippe makes his long journey home, he encounters various characters under the sway of a destructive madness borne of the chaotic times.
