When a travelling troupe of performers accept a commission from the mysterious Count Drago (Christopher Lee) and fail to heed the warnings of a local witch (Donald Sutherland), they find themselves trapped in the CASTLE OF THE LIVING DEAD. Terror ensues as they are picked off one-by-one as the Count enacts a diabolical scheme: the perversion of science to achieve immortality. A grim dwarf hero battles the Count's scythe-wielding henchman; a surreal secret museum of the Count's victims (whose number includes British horror filmmaker Michael Reeves) and the arresting Italian baroque setting all make for a uniquely cult film experience. Lucy Harbin has been in an asylum for 20 years after axing her husband and his mistress during a crime of passion, witnessed by her young daughter, Carol. While trying to renew ties with Carol, who is now a young woman about to be married, heads begin to roll again. Is Lucy repeating her past? The closest Japanese cinema ever came to the full-blown Broadway-style musical, with singing and dancing on the streets of Tokyo, music by avant-garde composer and jazzman Toshiro Mayuzumi, lyrics by renowned poet Shuntaro Tanikawa, and direction by one of Toho’s most prominent “new wave” directors, Eizo Sugawa. Popular jazz drummer and actor Frankie Sakai stars in this comic version of the “industrial competition” genre: two tourism companies compete for foreign clients in the run-up to the 1964 Tokyo Olympics. Highlighting the coming internationalization of Japan, the film dramatizes the felt tensions between tradition and modernity, the pressures of the “economic animal” lifestyle, and the energy of high economic growth. In India, a group of religious fanatics, the Sikkim rebels, capture an English lieutenant and the daughter of the Viceroy. The Sikkim belong to the deadly sect of the White Elephant, and are very cunning and dangerous. Lieutenant Dick Ramsey (played by Sean Flynn), captain of the lancers, engineers a scheme to save the two captives. After having been degraded and locked up in order to trick the rebels, he escapes, and makes his way into the jungle to find the mysterious temple. Along the way he meets Sandok and Prince Dahara, who both join Ramsey in unmasking the sect and saving the two captives. This film was made right after Lenzi's similar jungle film, "Sandokan, I Tigre della Malesia," so it contains many similar locales and actors. Lenzi returned to the jungle the following year to make three more films! Despite the original title, "Sandokan, I maciste della Giungla," this is not a Sandokan film. Nevertheless, this is a really fantastic adventure, with lots of steamy jungle footage, exotic locales, and enough action to make it well worth the watch. John is a shipmaster on a very small transportation boat which regularly attends a very small harbour to buy food, actually from Anna's father. She is a waitress and has a young daughter. She tells John that her name is Anita. They have met many times, but their first personal meeting is when both are swimming in early morning. John is asked to have morning coffee with Anna's family. He invites her and her child to a trip to Zoo in Copenhagen. Both have genuine feelings for each other. There are lovely three-some scenes when John is proud of "being" a father, and beautiful love scenes. Christina Schollin's naked body is cute but never obtrusive. But at that time girls were depreciated if they "gave in" too soon. So these scenes repeatedly alternate with hot misunderstandings, well-known exactly when two people with genuine feelings fear misunderstandings and try to preclude them.
