Ram (Jackie shroff) is an honest young man, who comes to the village of the powerful and corrupt Thakur Vijay Singh (Amrish Puri). On the way his vehicle breaks down and he meets with beautiful Bijli (Poonam Dhillon), and both fall in love with each other subsequently. Thakur Vijay Singh's men, especially Munim Banwarilal (Asrani), and Sardari (Sadashiv Amrapurkar) clash with Ram, and retreat, beaten, to their boss. Ram helps Gopi (Raj Kiran), who is dumb, and Sharda Devi (Swapna), and assists them in their life, and encourage to marry. Thakur Vijay Singh has his eye on Sharda, and has Ram killed by his men, and frames Gopi for the killing. Gopi is arrested by the police and is jailed. The only one who witnesses the killing is Ram's dog, Moti. Bijli also passes away, leaving her father (Satyen Kappo) distraught and close to insanity. Who will bring now help bring justice to Gopi; and who will avenge the killing of Ram?

Madonna's first concert tour was strictly one for the United States and Canada; it did not cross over to Europe, Asia or other continents. After a series of track dates in 1983-1984 in New York City and parts of Europe and Asia to promote her debut album Madonna, early on there were plans to schedule dates in England and Japan due to Madonna's large fan base in both countries, however the final schedule did not reflect the idea. Madonna later toured these countries during her 1987 Who's That Girl World Tour. Valeh is an anti-Shah activist in pre-revolutionary Iran. He is constantly on the move, aware that he is being monitored by the Savak, the Shah's secret police. Eventually he is captured and tortured in prison. to extract inform- ation about his organisation. Meanwhile his comrades try to coerce him into dying for the cause. Valeh simply wants to live and be re-united with his wife and new baby. The director based the film on his own experiences as a leftist Islamic radical who became disillusioned with political activism and extremism of any kind.
